Philippe Matthews
Where were you born?
Heidi Bressler
“Wayne, New Jersey.”
Philippe Matthews
Where is that?
Heidi Bressler
“It’s about fifteen minutes out of New York City.”
Philippe Matthews
Give a little background about you; do you have brothers or sisters?
Heidi Bressler
“Sure, I have an older sister, we’re completely opposite but very close. I was always the outgoing, rebellious one and always did what I wanted and got into a lot of fights with people. I never did drugs but I had a mouth on me.”
Philippe Matthews
You had a mouth on you??? lol
Heidi Bressler
“It’s my parents fault! In fact, when I was three years old, I remember getting into their Jeep and I tripped and fell and said, ‘fuck!’”
Philippe Matthews
Where did your brassiness come from?
Heidi Bressler
“I was always determined even when I was growing up. Everything I’ve done in my life, I’ve always been competitive and I’ve always done well. I always gave a hundred and fifty percent.”
Philippe Matthews
What did your parents do?
Heidi Bressler
“My dad is a dentist and my mom was a school teacher and then a housewife. Now she actually works for my father.”
Philippe Matthews
You have an extreme drive and a love for money. Where did this come from?
Heidi Bressler
“I’ve always been money hungry and my parents never spoiled me which I totally loved but I remember telling my dad, ‘I want a Mercedes’ and he said work hard for it. When I went to college, everyone was driving BMW’s and Mercedes’; I drove a Toyota Tercel because that’s what they bought for me. When I went to graduate school, I thought that’s what I wanted until I found out how much money I would make and then I decided I would rather go into sales. So, I’ve always been driven and did things when I wanted and how I wanted.”
Philippe Matthews
You are also a very loyal and disciplined person as well but you don’t give people a second chance either.
Heidi Bressler
“If I don’t like you, I’m going to cut you out of my life. If you backstab me once, I don’t give you the time of day. I’m not going to give you the time to explain it to me, you are cut off. I’m a very loyal person to my friends and family.”
Philippe Matthews
That is a strong statement and position so let me leap forward and bring up your reality TV friend, Omarosa. How did that relationship develop or not?
Heidi Bressler
“I got the pleasure to work with her on every task and from day one I knew there was something wrong with her. She lied from day one and she was a lot of talk and no action and I saw on the very first task with the lemonade stand, we were busting our butts off; selling lemonade; it was ninety degrees out; we were kicking ass and she was sitting there saying, ‘I’m going to count the money.’ That’s all she did. She was lazy, she would pick fights and she was a liar.”
Philippe Matthews
Now the way Mark Barnett (Creator of The Apprentice) edited the show, he made it look like you and Omarosa were best of friends; yet in the boardroom, she called you names, and said you had no class. Trump seemed more offended from her statement than you did.
Heidi Bressler
“We all went into this blindsided, all the contestants were. In real corporate America, which Omarosa wouldn’t know about because she never worked in corporate America, you would not be allowed to be catty or turn the boardroom into the Jerry Springer show. If you did that in the real world, you would get fired. I honestly didn’t give a shit what she thought of me. I thought it was actually kind of funny. Looking back on it, The Apprentice has turned so Hollywood that if I had to do it again, I would have defended myself and told her to fuck off and called her every name in the book because I knew it was acceptable. But going into the show, all of the contestants thought we had to be politically correct, we didn’t know; we were blindsided. I worked in corporate America for seven years, I know there are people who like you and people who don’t but you just move on. So after she said what she said, I was never loyal to her again.”
Philippe Matthews
Looking back, what did you learn from Trump?
Heidi Bressler
“Oh my God, I learned more in thirteen weeks than I have in seven years. I learned from Trump to be passionate about what you do because if you don’t love what you do, you are not going to be successful. I also learned that ultimately you always want to work for yourself. I worked for big companies and they taught me very well but I’m doing better now working for myself with appearances and a book. To me, it’s more rewarding personally and financially when you can do things for yourself. I’m a nine-to-five girl, I can work from midnight to three in the morning but I don’t like somebody telling me what hours I have to work. Trump definitely encourages an entrepreneurial attitude.”
Philippe Matthews
In your bio, you said something very interesting and that was a 40k job was not enough for you. Why is that?
Heidi Bressler
“I knew what I wanted in life and I knew what other people were making and always set such high goals for myself and knew I could do sales. It’s a very hard job and not easy but its very rewarding, you can make a ton of money in sales and if you pick the right field which I did it can be extremely rewarding. I started out in the dot com industry and then went to Quest with software, hosting and DSL lines. But I wasn’t happy and knew that was not what I wanted. I didn’t want to wear a Navy Blue suit to work everyday and make 40k. There was an intern I knew who was making 70k and she was 60 years old! I need to make 40k in a month! I can’t deal with that in a year.”
Philippe Matthews
What is your personal philosophy on sales?
Heidi Bressler
“In order to be successful in sales, there are a lot of things you need to do. One, you need to respect your manager but don’t rely on him/her because managers are oftentimes the people who can’t sell themselves so they choose to be a manager. I learned that from good experience. Secondly, always go to the top and I’m not talking about when you are just trying to get a client but go to the top internally because there is a lot of political and red tape going on in a corporation. I always went to the top in the corporate headquarters and I always got stuff done whether I got my hand slapped or not, I was always able to get any problem resolved. The last thing is build relationships with clients and internally. It’s just as important to build relationships with your company as it is with your clients. I can’t tell you how many things I was able to get and receive just by having relationships.”

On The Apprentice, your team, Protege used a lot of sex to sell. It worked because you won, however Trump frowned on the ladies for being too over the top. What is your position on using sex to sell?
Heidi Bressler
“If the guys went down to the West Village where there were gay men they would have done just as well. I hate to say it but its life and sex does sell and if you don’t like it…tough shit and if you don’t use it, shame on you because it does work. Be charming, be flirtatious, and use what you got. It’s helped me close many deals and they all treated me with the utmost respect.”
Philippe Matthews
So what was the allure to work with Donald Trump?
Heidi Bressler
“I thought that it was such an opportunity not only to work for him but to learn from him. I thought that was just as valuable and I also knew the other contestants were going to be really bright and smart so I knew I could learn from them as well. It was a great way to get my resume out to the entire country and the entire world. If it were not for The Apprentice, I would probably be behind a cubicle right now and not happy.”
