Well, O always comes before P so I’m honored to be mentioned as the Oprah of Internet. My goal is to live up to that standard and work to produce content that uplifts, inspires and educates humanity.
Who inspired you to launch your own TV show?
A couple of people. One was Mark Victor Hansen who told me at the end of one of my interviews with him that I should have a TV talk show. When the best selling author in the history of publishing tells you to do something, you do it. Mark is one of my greatest mentors. Secondly is Stedman Graham who met with me on two or three occasions at his office in the NBC Tower in Chicago. He taught me the process of building a brand over time and what that entails. I consider Stedman to be a marketing genius that is truly one of the forces behind the most powerful woman in TV media.
Who will watch The Philippe Matthews Show?
I would hope women, men and young adults. There’s an old saying, ‘You can lead a horse to water; but, you can’t make it drink.’ My goal is to develop provocative content that creates a thirst whereby people will watch, listen and read our show because they want to quench their thirst of learning “how” to live a fulfilled life.
What do you think is missing in broadcast TV today?
Solutions! Most of the talk shows on air — with the exception of Oprah and a few others, spend fifty minutes talking about the problem and only ten minutes or less trying to solve it. The rest is reality shows. Although, there are some reality shows that are educational and inspirational such as The Apprentice or Secret Millionaire.
Can a Talk Show be educational and entertaining?
Absolutely! Because of my eclectic background and plight from poverty to prosperity, I know how to ask my guests the questions that the population would ask if they had the opportunity to sit down with them and have the same conversation. I also am able to connect with almost anyone from any walk of life. Yes, I believe I can mix education and entertainment seamlessly.
Is there one message that you want to deliver with this show?
Yes. Hope is dead, HOW is Now! It’s your birthright to be happy, healthy and wealthy. No one is put here on this earth to suffer endlessly until they die without unfulfilled dreams and being able to leave a legacy.
You’ve been in publishing and media since you were a Makeup Artist back in 1982, what additional pressure do you feel with the launch of the show?
Other than getting into better shape and being able to saying ‘Hell to the Na’ to French fries, The Philippe Matthews Show will just be an extension of who I am and have become in the process of self-success. For example, I went from being a Makeup Artist to a Writer; from Writer to Editor; from Editor to an Internet Publisher; from an Internet Publisher to an Author, and then from an Author to an Internet entrepreneur. I feel it is my time to teach people how to truly go where there is no path, and leave a legacy!
What do you want to know most about your audience?
How can I ease or eliminate their pain and get them to how?’ How to move their mindset from “why” to “why not!” Many people are merely existing day-to-day and not living up to their true and full potential. I want to be the catalyst for positive, behavioral change in their lives.
What kind of content will your show offer?
I will simply provide my viewers with the topics that are relevant to their current situation. Many of the world-renowned experts that you have seen on the Oprah Show and are currently on the OWN Network will be guests on the Philippe Matthews Show such as, Dr. John F. Demartini, Marianne Williamson, Stedman Graham, Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Kiyosaki, Robert Allen, Zig Ziglar, and many more. I will also feature celebrities and new, up and coming experts for a well-blended balance of personal empowerment.
What do you want most from your guests?
Honesty, authenticity, courage; while giving sound and applicable advice – no fluff!
What are you passionate about Philippe?
I am passionate about helping people help themselves and showing people how to reinvent their personal history as I have done.
Because of your bald head, how do you feel about being compared to Montel Williams?
I love being compared to anyone with more money and better looking than I am! Montel is a champion! I could never fit in the shoes that he’s worn for so many years. He’s my hero!
There are actually four women that I owe my life to. My Mother, who gave me the will to dream; my Sister who allowed me to live my dreams; my Pastors, the Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon and Helen Carry, who taught me how to go beyond my dreams. (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h48bVW9dtc)
