Listen to My Exclusive Interview with
Jazz Vocalist, Lee Durley
Christmas is almost here! Have you already figured out what you’re going to give to friends and family? Have you completed your Christmas wish list? Definitely you’ve thought about a nice dinner with loved ones on Christmas Eve, “crazy” shopping that begins on Black Friday, or express sprees in online sites such as Amazon. While you’re at it, you may also want to consider getting the rhythmic soulful sounds of Lee Durley to fill up that chilly but cozy winter air.
Lee Durley has come up with something extra special for you this year. Together with his band, he produced the most joyful, fun, engaging, and absolutely warm Christmas carols for everyone. A Durley Holiday Christmas covers some of the most classic carols and songs that never fail to make us fall in love and look forward to the season even more. And because these are very familiar tunes, you can sing along anytime you like.
Getting to Know the Man
When Lee Durley sings, you’re actually transported to more than 30 years of authentic American music. I first heard Lee Durley while visiting Cibo in Monterey and purchased his CD, Monterey Easy. Durley has always regarded himself as an ultimate music lover. He may have taken other jobs before, but being a vocalist, composer, and musician have always taken precedence and defined his passion for decades.
His unbelievable talent, which has nurtured throughout the years, has taken him to several hot spots in the states. These include the Silver Circuit in Nevada, the rest of Las Vegas, and everywhere in Colorado. He’s also a regular fixture of the Monterey Jazz Festival and has embarked in countless tours all over Europe. Durley is now a member of the board of directors behind Monterey Bay Blues Festival.
Lee Durley has met a lot of equally amazing contemporaries, and he continuously faces a lot of stiff competition. However, he’s able to rise above them simply because he’s able to provide his own music and writing style. His works have been a combination of gospel, rock, jazz, and even R&B. This allows him to easily cross over to different music genres and capture the hearts of thousands of fans and music lovers all over the world. He also enjoys collaborating with other well-known singers and musicians, even working as background vocals. He’s also been likened to Nat King Cole and Lou Rawls.
The Music Just Keeps on Playing
So far, Lee Durley is not showing signs of slowing down. Instead, he’s busy sharing his gift to everyone. If he’s not on tour or in the studio recording new songs, he can be seen in intimate venues such as the Elegant Highlands Inn found in Carmel, California, where he’s been singing for more than 4 years. Fans can also hear his voice on Cannery Row’s Sly McFly’s where he hosts a jamming time for R&B.

Dear Mr. Matthews:
Just read your article about Lee Durley of Monterey on the internet – I agree, he
is Monterey’s gift to the jazz world and one of my all time favorite performers. I am
trying to reach Lee for some help, or maybe you can help out. I am just a normal citizen who loves loves loves jazz, and I have discovered a great group of jazz musicians in Shanghai China. I’m acting as their US agent and helping them with the submission process for the 57th Monterey Jazz Fest. I am trying to see if you or Lee can help with a little buzz so the selection committee can watch for their submission. Something like
“a hot Shanghai group is ending in their packet = watch for it.?” They say “nothing ventured nothing gained, right?” Trying to spread the word so this group won’t slip through the cracks. Any ideas? Thanks for being there for us. Roberta Dieter 949-294-9727…I live in Newport Beach but spend a lot of time in monterey – my dream home.
Sincerely,
Roberta Dieter
