Great things start from small beginnings…

Sandra worked as an employee and executive consultant for several top-ranking but challenging environments for women in technology and training. The companies she has worked for include big name entities such as Deloitte and Touche LLP, Arthur Andersen LLP, Credit Suisse, McKinsey & Company, and the New York Public Library. Not only that, she has also ventured into the political realm in New York City.

Needless to say, she has learned more than one thing about managing her life property outside of work and aligning what matters most with who she really is and what makes her happy.

Early life…

Sandra comes from Camberwell, London, England but spent much of her childhood in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She attended City and East London College in Great Britain. She moved to New York City in 1984 where she studied communications and psychology at Hunter College right in the heart of Manhattan.

While she was a student at Hunter, Sandra became a SEEK peer mentor and a member of the SEEK Provost Committee. It was during this time where her love for mentoring and sharing open dialogue to solve important, personal issues really solidified. In fact, this experience is exactly what led her to become, in her own words, a “Helper of Womankind.”

Welcome to the professional world…

Sandra then launched herself into the world of work after she graduated in 1990. She started out working as a special assistant to New York State Senator David Paterson. After that, she held a position as an executive assistant with the New York Public Library. Apart from the New York Public Library, she also held executive assistant positions with the following companies: Toshiba America, Inc. and Ann Taylor.

Following her stint as an executive assistant, she graduated to a role as information technology consultant for both MckInsey & Co. and Arthur Andersen. Other than that, she was also a technical project leader in the information technology solutions group at Deloitte & Touche. For this job, she performed advanced-level research, planning, and testing of new technology and related services. She also performed similar tasks at the New York City Administration for Children’s Services.

Founding her own company…

Although her working career offered her a lot of satisfaction, she still found time to return to her first passion: helping other people. Because of this, she founded TateWorks whose vision is to help people help themselves in order to achieve success.
